About Colombo Design
An Italian house born in Lombardy
Founded in 1990, Colombo Design is headquartered and has its factory in Terno d'Isola, in the province of Bergamo, Italy, where production began in 1991. It carries out a complete in-house production cycle there, using robotised machinery. Door, window and furniture handles, fittings and bathroom accessories are all manufactured on site.
Brass and the Cromall alloy
The handles are made from brass and certified-quality Cromall alloy, shaped by pressure casting or forging. The collections range from contemporary lines to the twelve colours of Mood and the heritage models of Antologhia. The Formae furniture handles and bathroom accessories complete the range.
PVD finishes guaranteed for thirty years
A fully computerised electroplating process ensures the reproducibility of finishes from one production run to the next. The in-house HPS process applies a PVD treatment over galvanic sub-layers of copper, nickel and chrome that insulate the substrate. Eight PVD finishes are guaranteed for thirty years, with all other treatments guaranteed for ten years. A powder coating and an epoxy lacquer preserve the appearance of the products for many years.

The catalogue is developed under the artistic direction of architect Carlo Bartoli, with around forty designers: the studios Bartoli Design, Castiglia Associati, Di Blasi Associati, Studio Kairos and Archilab, as well as Alberto Meda, Makio Hasuike, Gianluigi Landoni, Francesco Lucchese, Luca Colombo, Michele De Lucchi, Jasper Morrison, Konstantin Grcic, Jean-Marie Massaud and Pininfarina. The Prius handle, designed by Marco Acerbis, received an honourable mention at the 21st Compasso d'Oro.
Standards, certifications and six-millimetre roses
The brand claims Grade 4 classification under the UNI EN 1906:2012 standard and a UNI EN 1634-2 fire door certification. It is certified to UNI EN ISO 9001 and UNI EN ISO 14001, with its environmental management system presented under the Green Made label. Its six-millimetre concept reduces roses and keyhole escutcheons to 6 mm.
