HANDLE HIGHLIGHTS

The satin white bronze door lever handle PHTT, with its vertical design, is an original concept. Handles like this could be found in Brussels homes in the late 19th century. This distinctive handle draws inspiration from those used in the carriages of the Orient Express, conceived in 1883. Its vertical lines make it a retro interior door lever handle with an original look.

It is cast in solid bronze as part of Dauby’s PURE collection, in six finishes: white bronze, satin white bronze, raw bronze, polished raw bronze, raw metal and aged iron, plus a black finish, the only one made from lacquered iron.

The satin white bronze finish

This model comes in satin white bronze, which we call the ‘matt chrome look’: a non-shiny metallic grey, similar to brushed chrome, but traditionally cast in a sand mould, giving it a textured surface that is never perfectly smooth. With use, the areas touched by the hand gradually become lighter.

Dauby, a Belgian foundry

Dauby makes its handles to order in Belgium across two collections. PURE, which includes this model, uses traditional foundry techniques, casting solid bronze in a sand mould to create clean lines inspired by the Bauhaus. Création du Fer, the other collection, is made entirely from solid iron, with rustic designs inspired by the latches of old farmhouses.

Care

Dauby bronze is a living material: its colour deepens over time, and areas touched by the hand polish themselves naturally. The manufacturer calls this a living finish and recommends letting it develop — no maintenance is needed. Only the black finish is made from lacquered iron: if the lacquer is damaged, it can be touched up in RAL 9005. To restore the original shine of a bronze finish, a soft cloth and copper or silver polish are all you need. Never use an abrasive cleaner.
