The B11, a knob not a lever
No lever here: a 60 mm knob that you grip in the full hand and turn. This is the traditional operation of old espagnolettes — one that does not protrude beyond the frame and does not catch on a curtain.
The 60 mm is the mid-size in the range. Choose it if your original knob measured around six centimetres, or if the window is a standard size: the action remains confident without the piece feeling heavy.
Replacing the handle without touching the espagnolette
On a French casement window, the espagnolette is the mechanism that secures the casement: two vertical rods, one running up towards the top of the window, the other down towards the bottom, operated by the handle which you turn a quarter turn.
What you'll find here is the handle alone, on its escutcheon. The rest of the mechanism stays in place. This is the most common replacement on an old window: the rod linkage lasts for decades, while the handle tarnishes, loosens, or eventually breaks at the base.
Removal takes just two screws. The new handle goes back in the same place, in the same fixing holes.

What to check before ordering
- The square spindle — the metal rod that protrudes from the espagnolette and onto which the handle fits. We supply the 7 mm, the French standard. The 6 mm and 8 mm also exist: let us know when ordering.
- The escutcheon — the backplate that sits between the handle and the wood. It is supplied with the handle; there is nothing else to add.
- Quantity — one espagnolette per opening casement, so one handle per window. Allow two for a window with two independently opening casements.
Unsure about the square size? Measure the spindle in place, or send us a photo of your espagnolette: we'll tell you exactly what to order.
Finishes
From bright gold to anthracite, via bronze, copper, chrome and nickels. The handle and its escutcheon come from the same finishing bath: the set arrives matched. The exact choice is displayed in the selector above.
Solid brass, cast in Picardy
Gravity cast in a sand mould, machined, then hand-polished in the Vimeu, the historic heartland of French ironmongery. The brass is solid: on a window, where the handle is gripped bare-handed in cold conditions, the difference in weight and feel is immediately apparent.
Fixings included. 2-year guarantee.
