Thirard: French locksmithing from the Vimeu since 1920
About Thirard
A French family business, remaining independent
Fernand Thirard, an engineer, took over a padlock workshop in Fressenneville, in the Vimeu (Somme), in 1920, and created the FTH brand early on. Four generations have followed, down to Barnabé Chivot; the head office and historic factory remain on rue Jean Jaurès. The company reports a presence in 68 countries.
From padlock to door hardware
The first brass padlock was produced in 1965, followed by bolts and then locks from 1975 onwards, before door and window hardware. The range covers double and single lever handles, knobs and security knobs, escutcheon plates and roses, with models named Dionysos, Junon, Arès, Ouranos, Charon, Chantilly, and Crécy, in chrome, aluminium, lacquered, brass, porcelain, PVC, and steel finishes.
A culture of certification
The brand holds A2P certification on locks, cylinders, and padlocks, following break-in tests conducted in CNPP laboratories with an annual audit of the manufacturer; added to this are the NF mark across four product groups and CE marking under AFNOR supervision. The endurance of the bolt mechanism is measured to the EN 12209 standard, and Thirard has held ISO 9001 certification since 1994.
Distributed by Millapoignees
Millapoignees works with Thirard and distributes its products in France. We meet with their teams regularly to monitor the quality of what we sell. Our advisors check every order to ensure a consistent finish between the handle, its rose, and its accessories, and remain reachable before and after purchase.
