JNF: Portuguese architectural hardware in stainless steel
About JNF
A Portuguese company founded in 1965
JNF, standing for J. Neves & Filhos, designs and manufactures architectural hardware in Portugal. Its headquarters and factory are in Gondomar, near Porto, where production, design and engineering are all kept in-house. The range covers lever handles, pull handles, hinges and pivots, sliding door hardware, furniture handles and bathroom accessories.
Stainless steel as the primary material
JNF documents AISI 304 stainless steel as standard and AISI 316, which offers greater corrosion resistance, on specific references. Finishes range from polished, satin or raw stainless steel to PVD coatings in black, gold, copper or chocolate. The brand claims compliance with EN 1906 and EN 1634 standards for its lever handles, EN 1527 for its sliding door hardware, and a quality management system certified ISO 9001:2015 by APCER.
A minimalist design, recognised in 2025
JNF is recognised for its minimalist aesthetic and the breadth of its finishes, across series such as Angulo, Freeline and Quadro. It is a recipient of the German Design Award 2025 for three handles designed with British designer Ross Lovegrove, in metal 3D printing, AISI 316L stainless steel. Its pivots, rated at approximately 100 to 500 kg depending on the series, are aimed at heavy doors and commercial applications.
