The bedroom key, also known as an L key or OB key
This rose takes a long, uncut key known as a bedroom key, L key, OB key or Patent key, depending on the region. Its elongated keyhole makes it easy to distinguish from a cylinder rose at a glance. This is the traditional fitting for bedroom doors. Depending on the finish chosen, it is cast in bronze or worked in metal: each material has its own colour and texture. The rose is oval, reference PBTC1 in the Dauby catalogue. It is fitted as a pair, with one rose on each side of the door.
Included
- A pair of roses, one left and one right
- Two M4 through-bolts to secure the adaptors to the door
- Set of wood screws, available on special request
- Fitting instructions in French
- Material: bronze or metal, depending on the finish
- 24-month manufacturer’s warranty
Compatibility
Suitable for all types of wooden door up to 44 mm thick. For thicker doors, tell us the thickness in your order comments and we will adapt the fitting kit. To understand the different types of roses, see our article on handles mounted on a rose.
Dauby, a Belgian foundry
Dauby makes its handles to order in Belgium across two collections. Création du Fer, which includes this model, is made entirely of solid iron: each piece is cast in a sand mould and then finished by hand in one of three finishes: polished iron, black (aged iron) or waxed rust. Inspired by the latches of old farmhouses, its authentic designs suit characterful homes as well as more contemporary interiors where wood takes centre stage. PURE, the other collection, uses these traditional techniques to create clean-lined designs inspired by the Bauhaus, in white bronze, raw bronze, raw metal or aged iron.
Care
Dauby’s bronze is a living material: its colour deepens over time, while the areas touched by hand polish themselves naturally. The manufacturer calls this a living finish and recommends letting it develop: no maintenance is needed. If you prefer to restore the original shine, a soft cloth and copper or silver polish, depending on the finish, are all you need. Never use an abrasive cleaner.
