The B603, grooved body

The body bears parallel grooves running the full length — more pronounced than flutes. This is the design of the Nicole lever, transposed onto the E18 escutcheon.

On an espagnolette that has become loose or stiffens in winter, these grooves make all the difference: they give the thumb and index finger a firm grip, where a smooth lever would turn in the hand.

Replace the handle without touching the espagnolette

On a casement window, the espagnolette is the mechanism that secures the sash: two vertical rods, one running up towards the top of the window, the other down towards the bottom, operated by the handle turned a quarter turn.

What you find here is the handle alone, on its escutcheon. The rest of the mechanism stays in place. This is the most common replacement on an old window: the rod assembly can last for decades, whereas the handle tarnishes, works loose, or eventually breaks at the base.

Removal takes two screws. The new handle fits back in the same place, in the same hole.

What to check before ordering

  • Fitting — old espagnolettes are not all operated in the same way: some by a square spindle, others by a screw. Look at what protrudes from your espagnolette beneath the current handle and let us know, or send us a photo: we will supply the correct version.
  • The escutcheon — the plate that sits between the handle and the wood. It is supplied with the handle, so nothing extra to add.
  • Quantity — one espagnolette per opening sash, so one handle per window. Count two for a window with two independently opening sashes.

If in doubt, a photo of the espagnolette in place is enough: we will tell you what to order.

Finishes

From bright gold to anthracite, via bronze, copper, chrome and nickels. The handle and its escutcheon come from the same finishing bath: the set arrives matched. The exact choice is shown in the selector above.

Solid brass, cast in Picardy

Gravity cast in a sand mould, machined, then hand-polished in the Vimeu, the historic heartland of French ironmongery. The brass is solid: on a window, where the handle is gripped in cold bare hands, the difference in weight and feel is immediately noticeable.

Screws included. 2-year guarantee.
