This handle is designed for a door leading outside, whether an entrance door, service door or outbuilding door. It comes in Dauby’s iron tones, whose muted, matt colour complements stone or brick façades and traditional joinery.

Dauby, a Belgian foundry

Dauby makes its handles to order in Belgium, across two collections. Création du Fer, which includes this model, is made entirely of solid iron: each piece is cast in a sand mould and then finished by hand. It comes in three finishes: polished iron, black (aged iron) and waxed rust. Inspired by the latches of old farmhouses, its authentic designs suit characterful homes as well as more contemporary, wood-led interiors. PURE, the other collection, uses these traditional techniques to create clean lines inspired by the Bauhaus, in white bronze, raw bronze, raw metal or aged iron.

Care

The iron finishes are lacquered or varnished. No coating is completely scratch-resistant: a ring, a sharp object or everyday use can leave a mark — part of what gives each piece its character. If the black lacquer is damaged, it can be touched up with RAL 9005. The waxed rust finish is deliberately rough and grainy: do not polish it; care for it with beeswax or petroleum jelly. Never use an abrasive cleaner.
