A porcelain furniture knob designed by Anne Black

Anne Black is a Danish ceramicist based in Copenhagen. She designed this model in 2007, and it is handmade in the workshop she founded in 2005 with the Hang family in Bat Trang, the pottery village near Hanoi, Vietnam. Each piece is individually cast, glazed or coloured, and fired: slight variations in shade are part of its charm.

The glossy glazed finish

The porcelain is coated with a tinted transparent glaze, fired at a high temperature to create a glossy, smooth, vitrified surface that wipes clean with a sponge. As each piece is glazed by hand, the shade and thickness of the glaze vary slightly from one piece to another.

27 colours

Choice of 27 shades: white, cream, peach, coral, powder pink, lavender, lilac, amethyst, terracotta, mango, lemon yellow, ochre, caramel, hazelnut, mocha, greige, concrete grey, storm grey, light blue, cobalt blue, denim blue, jade, mint green, sage green, petrol green, dark green, and white with blue spots.

• S: Ø 30 mm, height 30 mm

• L: Ø 70 mm, height 45 mm
• XL: Ø 85 mm, height 50 mm

Fixings

In S and M, both sets of fixings are supplied: an M5 × 25 mm screw for furniture, and a screw and wall plug for the wall. In L and XL, only the wall fixings (screw and wall plug) are supplied. To fit these larger sizes to furniture, you will need an M5 screw suited to the thickness of the door or drawer front.

Knob or hook

On a chest of drawers, sideboard, wardrobe or kitchen cabinet, this knob adds a touch of handcrafted colour. The same design can also be fixed to the wall to hang a bag, coat or tea towel: it is available as a wall hook.
