Anne Black matt porcelain furniture knob

A porcelain furniture knob designed by Anne Black

Anne Black is a Danish ceramicist based in Copenhagen. She designed this model in 2007, and it is handmade in the workshop she founded in 2005 with the Hang family in Bat Trang, the pottery village near Hanoi, Vietnam. Each piece is individually cast, glazed or coloured, and fired: slight variations in shade are part of its charm.

The matt finish

There is no glaze here: the porcelain is coloured throughout and then fired unglazed. Each piece retains a soft, matt, slightly velvety feel, and the colour cannot chip off because it runs through the entire material.

13 colours

Choice of 13 shades: white, pearl grey, black, taupe brown, putty, pale yellow, coral red, pale pink, sea green, jade, light blue, periwinkle blue and royal blue.

Sizes

• XS: 22 × 20 mm
• S: Ø 30 mm, height 30 mm
• M: Ø 45 mm, height 30 mm
• L: Ø 70 mm, height 45 mm
• XL: Ø 85 mm, height 50 mm

Fixings

In XS, S and M, both sets of fixings are supplied: an M5 × 25 mm screw for furniture, and a screw and wall plug for the wall. In L and XL, only the wall fixings (screw and wall plug) are supplied. To fit these larger sizes to furniture, you will need an M5 screw suited to the thickness of the door or drawer front.

Knob or hook

On a chest of drawers, sideboard, wardrobe or kitchen cabinet, this knob adds a touch of handcrafted colour. The same design can also be fixed to the wall to hang a bag, coat or tea towel: it is available as a wall hook.
