Ceramic door knobs

Anne Black is a Copenhagen-based ceramicist who dedicates her career to applied arts and craftsmanship. Her enthusiasm for working with clay was inspired by her studies of ancient Chinese porcelain. After graduating from design school in 1996, she worked in several collective studios in Copenhagen, creating porcelain objects that combine Scandinavian design and craftsmanship - functional, handmade porcelain pieces.

Premium porcelain

In 2005, the artist put her skills and studio to good use by implementing a development project, creating a ceramics factory in northern Vietnam. Working closely with highly skilled craftspeople, she exchanges ideas and knowledge whilst finding new inspiration. With support from the Danish aid organisation Danida, the project has become a socially and environmentally sustainable factory employing more than 50 craftspeople who produce, by hand and with meticulous expertise, the precious porcelain inherited from ancestral Vietnamese craftsmanship.

Ceramic in the service of design

2013 marked a new turning point for the Danish ceramicist, who opened her concept Black Store in Copenhagen. She has selected premium international brands in the fields of fashion, furniture and design accessories, as well as her own handmade porcelain lines.

In recent years, Anne Black has expanded her work to include unique pieces, created in her Copenhagen studio and often in collaboration with various designers such as Akika Minagawa, Henrik Vibskov or Adish.
