Gold with a subtle look
On a window, a shiny gold handle catches the eye when backlit. A matt finish simply warms the tone without reflecting the light: a good compromise if you want gold without making it a focal point.
Replacing a window handle
You can replace it without removing the window sash: turn the screw cover, undo the screws, remove the old handle and its square spindle, then fit the new one. Allow around ten minutes per window. The only thing to check is the spindle length: it must pass through the full thickness of the sash to reach the locking mechanism.
