Renowned for his distinctive design of the Paris Métro entrances, Guimard created this knob model around 1897. The unique and fluid shape of the knob is the result of an unprecedented creative process: Guimard moulded it by pressing a lump of clay in his left hand, thus giving its general shape, then in his right hand, imprinting his thumb and forefinger to refine the design.
