How to clean an Aluminium Handle

Redecorating a house is becoming increasingly important for each of us. In addition to cushions, a new piece of furniture or a mirror, you should also think about new door handles. These small functional accessories are now presented as true decorative objects. Moreover, they come in different models to suit all styles, from the most classic to the most modern.

To keep your handle looking as good as new, it needs to be maintained and polished. How do you do this? Here is our advice.

Soapy water

For a slightly dirty aluminium handle, we recommend taking a container and creating a solution based on warm water with a few drops of washing-up liquid. Then clean the aluminium handle using a clean sponge soaked in this mixture. Finish the cleaning by rinsing with clear water and then dry with a microfibre cloth.

Bicarbonate of soda

In a container, prepare a mixture of bicarbonate of soda and water with a 2/1 ratio to form a paste. Put some on a sponge and rub the aluminium handle so that all the dirt comes off. To finish, simply wipe with a clean cloth.

Coarse salt and white vinegar

Heat white vinegar in a saucepan. Add coarse sea salt and mix everything to obtain a rather liquid paste. Spread the preparation on the handle using a soft sponge. Remember to rub the stains before rinsing with clear water. For drying, simply apply methylated spirits.

Take a damp cloth and put a few drops of methylated spirits on it. With this cloth, you must rub the aluminium handle to remove dirt. Note that this tip only works on slightly dirty surfaces.

Lemon juice

If white stains persist after an initial cleaning, use lemon juice. The acidic property of lemon is effective in removing them. To do this, lightly soak a clean cloth with warm water. Put a few drops of lemon juice on it. Gently clean the aluminium handle and finish the process by drying with a clean microfibre cloth.

Soapy water and fine salt

To remove black stains on your aluminium handle, you can use soapy water and fine salt. Soak your clean sponge in a solution made from hot water, washing-up liquid and fine salt. Rub the area where the black stains are located without scratching it. In this case, check that the sponge is clean and that the salt has dissolved properly. Rinse everything and then polish with a clean microfibre cloth.
