How to Clean an Iron Handle

From front door handles to toilet handles, we can't avoid touching them. However, few people wipe them before use, which encourages the development of germs and viruses of all kinds. Moreover, cleaning these objects helps them maintain their shine for as long as possible. Additionally, cleaning these objects prevents them from spreading dangerous infections to other people. White vinegar

To clean your iron handles with white vinegar, here's our tip:

• Soak a microfibre cloth with this miracle product
• Gently rub your iron handles with the cloth. If possible, use a white vinegar spray on the object before rubbing them.
• Rinse and dry with a clean, dry cloth.

Tip: it's possible to mix a few drops of essential oils with the white vinegar. This will mask the smell of vinegar, but will also add disinfectant properties depending on your essential oil.

Disinfectant wipes

When you lack time to prepare a cleaning product more suited to your needs, opt for disinfectant wipes. You simply need to polish the handle and you're done. For this, it's advisable to change wipes for each handle for greater effectiveness, although this isn't very eco-friendly.

If possible, it's better to opt for antibacterial wipes rather than simple cleaning wipes, for effective disinfection of your handles. 

Soapy water

If you have the time, the simplest solution, if there isn't too much dirt, is to use a solution based on warm water and mild soap. To do this, simply soak your clean soft sponge in a basin filled with soapy water before rubbing the handle. Complete the process by rinsing the handle with clean water. Then dry it with a clean, dry cloth.

White stone

White stone is a mixture based on soap, glycerine and Meudon white powder. It's a solution that cleans everything, including the iron handles on your doors. It polishes, disinfects and makes the surface of your iron handles shine. Moreover, it's an economical and ecological cleaning solution.

To proceed, simply rub the handle using a sponge soaked in the miracle solution, then clean the iron handle gently, in circular movements. Rinse and wipe the cleaned object with a dry cloth to avoid the risk of oxidation.

Household alcohol

Household alcohol, also called methylated spirits, is the perfect solution for eliminating all traces of germs and bacteria in its path. It's an effective weapon in the fight against dirt.

To clean your iron handles, simply:

• Soak your clean cloth with the alcohol;
• Lightly rub the surface to be cleaned. There's no need to rinse, as the alcohol evaporates quickly into the air. Remember to ventilate the area where you use the alcohol to see its strong smell disappear quickly.
