What is a magnetic lock?

What does this look like in practice?

This is done through magnets that attract each other. The entire process of closing a door fitted with a magnetic lock is silent, especially compared to a traditional lock. To open the door, simply press down on the handle, which causes the cam to retract back into the lock.
