Did you know that the price of a designer door handle can range from around 30 euros to more than… 500 euros? Here is why:

The material

Handles can be made from premium materials such as Zamak, Brass, Zinc, Bronze, Porcelain, Silver and others. It's not just stainless steel, plastic or aluminium! There is also the concept of production mass density, which affects the weight of the handle.

Weight

To know whether a handle is of good quality, simply pick it up — try to appreciate its weight, which is often synonymous with quality. A very important point that you can easily check for yourself if you want to judge the quality of the object!

The finish

The finish is an essential yet often overlooked step. However, it plays a key role in ensuring your handle lasts as long as possible. Did you know that a matt or gloss finish is achieved by sanding or polishing the same handle? This process can often be applied by hand to achieve a unique texture.

The design

The design time for a "perfect" handle can take even several months. For example, the handle designed specifically for MILLA by French designer David Turpin. To design a handle, one must go through many stages of production.

Furthermore, designers and interior decorators must know all the popular interior design styles in order to meet the needs and desires of their clients.

The manufacturing method

Choice of manufacturing method. There are handles made "on a production line" in factories and those produced by hand, one by one, using a sand casting process. This is a traditional method known for hundreds of years. The result? Each handle is unique!

Type of plate

Interior door handles can be mounted on a rectangular, square, round, or… a concealed plate. This requires the design and engineering of a completely new mechanism that must be reliable in order to achieve lines perfectly aligned with the rose! Everything is aligned to the millimetre.

The quality of the mechanism

The mechanism must remain true to high production standards and excellent quality materials. We tend to forget it, but the handle is, after all, made up of several components — plate, numerous screws, spindles. For example, a self-levelling double metal spring that allows the handle to be permanently fixed with metal adapters, guaranteeing "lifetime" use.
