Modern brass door lever handle set on round rose

The essentials

Modern, Art Deco-inspired door lever handle in solid brass, made in France, supplied with its round rose with concealed screws. Sold individually, with its rose, square spindle, fixings and Allen key. Designed for surface-mounted locks, it can also be fitted to a mortise lock with the appropriate roses.

The design is understated: a clean, modern line with no applied motifs or ornaments, where the Art Deco spirit lies in geometry alone. At 109 mm, the lever handle sits within the standard range for a door handle: the hand rests on it fully without the piece projecting far into the opening. Its 45 mm round rose shows no screws once fitted — the brass disc remains smooth. And the weight is felt from the first touch, as with any solid piece.

Surface-mounted lock or mortise lock?

This determines your order. Look at your door: is the lock case sitting on the wood surface, clearly visible, or is it hidden because it is recessed into the thickness?

Surface-mounted lock

The metal case is screwed onto the face of the door. It is visible and forms part of the décor. This is the traditional fitting method of older properties, and the original intended use for this lever handle.

On that side, it mounts directly onto the case, which already carries the entire mechanism: nothing else is needed. On the other side, it passes through bare wood. You may add a rose there — not for functional purposes, but to conceal marks left by a previous hole.

In this case, request the 6 mm square spindle: this is the standard for surface-mounted locks and is not supplied by default. A note in the order comments is all it takes.

The mortise lock, also known as a "sash lock"

The case is recessed into the thickness of the door leaf: only the faceplate is visible, on the door edge. This is the standard fitting method for modern doors, and the 7 mm square spindle supplied as standard suits it perfectly.

In this case, three elements are required on each side: the lever handle, its rose, and a function rose chosen according to the lock — cylinder keyhole, room key, or bathroom/toilet turn. Here, the lever handle and its rose come together: only the function rose remains to be chosen.

Choose the finish

One thing to know before choosing a gold finish: bare brass tarnishes in the air within a few months. Our gold finishes are lacquered, which prevents this — the lever handle retains the same lustre it had on the day of fitting.

• Golds — Polished gold, also known as bright gold: the bold shine of brass, protected by its lacquer. Matt gold, or satin gold: the same warmth, without the glare.
• Light greys — Polished chrome, the most reflective. Satin nickel, also known as brushed nickel, and Lacquered nickel: more subdued, and they do not show fingerprints.
• Deep tones — Bronze, a darkened brass with warm reflections. Copper, more rose-tinted. Brushed chrome, aged grey. Anthracite, also known as matt slate, almost black, to stand out against a light-coloured door.

The difference between satin nickel and brushed chrome is difficult to tell from a photo. If you are unsure between two similar shades, write to us.

Where it comes from

DCG manufactures in the Vimeu region of Picardy, a family business since 1989. Each piece is gravity sand-cast, silver-brazed, then hand-polished.
